Linton Parish Council

🏛️ Serving the Community of Linton

Linton Parish Council is the first tier of local government and works on behalf of the residents of Linton to help protect, improve and enhance our village.

The Council is committed to representing the interests of the local community, maintaining and improving village amenities, commenting on planning applications, managing community projects, and working in partnership with Maidstone Borough Council, Kent County Council and other organisations to deliver services and improvements for the parish.

Parish Councillors are elected by local residents and give their time voluntarily to serve the community. They carrying out their duties voluntarily.

 

👥 Your Parish Council

Linton Parish Council is made up of seven elected Parish Councillors, each serving a four-year term of office. Elections are administered by Maidstone Borough Council in accordance with the national local government election timetable.

Each year, the Council elects a Chairman and Vice-Chairman from amongst its members at the Annual Parish Council Meeting.

The day-to-day administration of the Council is carried out by the Parish Clerk, who is also the Council's Proper Officer and Responsible Financial Officer (RFO).

 

📋 What Does the Parish Council Do?

The Parish Council works to improve the quality of life for everyone living in Linton. Its responsibilities include:

🌳 Maintaining and improving local amenities and community assets.

🏡 Supporting community facilities and local organisations.

📝 Commenting on planning applications affecting the parish.

🚶 Working to improve footpaths, public rights of way and the local environment.

💷 Managing the Council's finances and setting the annual precept responsibly.

🤝 Working closely with Maidstone Borough Council, Kent County Council and other organisations on matters affecting the village.

❤️ Supporting community initiatives such as litter picking, Community Speedwatch and environmental projects.

While the Parish Council does not manage services such as highways, education or waste collection, it actively represents the views of residents and works with the relevant authorities to help resolve local issues.

 

🏛️ Council Meetings

The Parish Council normally meets monthly, with the exception of August and December, and members of the public are warmly invited to attend.

Meeting agendas are published in advance, and approved minutes are made available on this website following each meeting.

Residents are encouraged to attend meetings and may have the opportunity to raise matters of local concern during the public participation session.
